Dear host family, My name is Juan Gabriel and I would like to tell you a little bit more about myself. I am 23 years old, I studied Corporate Communications and Graphic Design and I am from Medellin-Colombia. I live with my grandmother, grandfather, my younger sister, Alexandra (She is 16 years old) and our cat. My parents are separated and they live in different cities, my mother lives with my younger brother, Mateo (he is 11) and My older sister Yuliet is also an Au Pair and she is currently living with her host family in Las Vegas. Although I don’t live with them I have a good relationship with them as I call them almost every day. I have worked in several companies which include a Hospital, a Creative Agency, and a Services Company, it was fun as I made a lot of friends and I learned a lot not only in my field but as a person and this is something I would love to do in the Au Pair program as well. I do not have problems to help in the household as this is something I have been doing since I was a child, I was taught by my parents to help in the house, I cook too, right now I am working on how to bake cookies, cupcakes and related. As a hobby, I collect magnets and I put them on the fridge so whenever my sister go to a different place I ask her to buy me one, I have different ones from New Orleans, Florida, Kansas City and others. I love reading, I have my Kindle all the time and enjoy adding new books to it, drawing and illustrating, I used to practice arrow shooting. I volunteer for the YMCA teaching basic English to beginners kids and teenagers alongside with other activities. I joined back in November of 2017 but officially started volunteering in January. I take care of our neighbor, Mariangel, she is 11 years old and I help her with her homework, I play with her, I prepare snacks for her and also teach her English every Saturday. I used to take care of my younger brother Mateo when he lived with me, from making his breakfast to taking him to the school and help him with homework. I am very respectful when it comes to the religious belief of a person, his ethnicity or her/his sexual orientation, you would not have any problem and I would not either, the base of the society is respect and to be open-minded and realize that there are a lot of different cultures out there. I love pets, so if you have a pet in your family I can guarantee I will be happy and treat it like it was mine. There are some reasons why I want to be an au pair: learn mandarin, live this unique opportunity, be a big brother to your kids, and experience the Chinese Culture. I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you, to answer the questions you may have about me and to learn more about your family; Thank you very much for your interest in my application! I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Juan.
