Dear family, I am very interested in working for your family as an au-pair. I belong to a large family including my mother with whom I live, Vera (72y.o.) old retired government worker, 3 older siblings: Erika (46y.o.) housewife who’s married and has 2 daughters, Marcella (19y.o.) attends law school and Giovanna (11y.o.); Elga (45y.o.) lives in another city, she works as an Interior Designer, also has 2 daughters Mariana (11y.o.) and Ana Clara (8y.o.); Lucio (40y.o.) married and works as IT Technician. I am single, 29 years old, working as a Nursing Associate in paediatrics and neonatal care for the past 2 years. Becoming an aunt at a young age and having my niece living in the same house for 6 years made me be used to have children around. When Elga first got pregnant I moved in with her and her husband to attend school in the city they live at and ended up helping around with the newborn afterwards. Now I’m a passionate autie of four and my love for children grew as each one of them came into my life and showed me how purely beautiful a child’s soul is. When I was 19 years old after attending 1 year of Foreign Affairs school and being an intern in the Logistics department of a multinational manufacturing company I decided it was time to have an international experience to improve my language skills so I did an exchange program to the US where I lived for almost 4 years. There I had all sorts of jobs from housekeeping at a resort to night club manager. The resort I first worked for had a babysitting service due to many guests being families with children and parents wanting some alone time in the evenings. After 2 weeks housekeeping I got promoted to restaurant hostess due to my English skills and then could be part of the babysitting team as a side job as the working hours were lighter and I worked there for 1 year. After returning to Brazil I went to work in cruise ships as international hostess for 2 different Italian companies doing 1 contract of 9 months for each company. When I finished the last contract I got a job offer from a financial British company based in Dubai where I worked for 3 months as a Relationship Manager. After that I returned home and attended nursing school for 2 years which gave me the Brazilian equivalent title and skills to Nursing Associate. As a Nursing intern I felt in love for child care and focused on that as a professional and worked in paediatric care at a General and also Rehabilitation hospital, and neonatal intensive care unit at a General hospital. My interest on being an Au Pair come from a combination of my love for children and travelling, knowing other cultures and languages. Working with people to ensure that they lead a dignified life is now my life’s mission. I am presently looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family in China with whom I can work for a minimum of six months. I am comfortable looking after children, from newborns to 12 years, with or without disabilities and special care needs. I’m a long time admirer of the Chinese culture and language. Always got along very well with Chinese people I’ve met throughout the years I travelled. It would be a dream come true to be able to live there, experience it’s culture and learn Mandarin. I will be happy to speak with you and answer any questions that you may have about my personality and caregiving skills. It would also be nice to know more about you and your family and what you expect from an au pair arrangement. Thank you for your interest in my application. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Ellen Schwindt.
