Dear host family, how’re you? My name is Kelly. I'm 26 years old. I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am Librarianship and Management Information Units student at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. I chose this course because I like technology, communication and books. One of my career aspiration is work in film and movie industry as film editing, film producer, screenwriter or director. That is why I love art. Art works with our creative side and work with children this is a thing will be used daily. I live with my mother and she's 57 years old and works as a housekeeper. She's is my best friend, hero and example of never give up of our dreams. And wasn't easy for she raised me. We are best friends. I hope one day repay everything she did for me. On my free time I like to watch movies, tv series, visit museums and gallery art. One of my favorite is the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil which is galleries of art, cinema and theater in neoclassical building constructed in 1906, administered by the Bank of Brazil. For me, be in contact with nature is a good way to keep enjoy the life. When is summer in Rio, me and my friends loves spent the day at the beach. The weather is always good in my city, even in winter. My experience with kids are take care of younger children (2 years old) to children of 10 years but my last childcare reference are of two girls. At January, 2016, I took care of a 1 year old girl for 6 months, part-time because I was goes to the college later. She used to be very active and smart. I was responsible to wake up her around 9am, prepare the breakfast and feed her, play with toys and waiting her parents at home 3pm. Two times a week a I was walked with her in the streets, park and her always curious looking everything around. We spent 30hs per week together. On the beginning of January, 2017 until December, 2017 I started work 6 hours a day for another family taking care of an two years old girl. My routine was prepare her breakfast, give shower, do creative activities, feed her and twice a week take her to the park. Usually at 3pm her mother was at home and I was goes to the college. She used to be a shy but after a few weeks I got her trust and then she became my big little girl. In both family I work for six months because the timetable was compatible with the schedule of my classes in my college that start 4:30pm. For me, was a amazing experience and learning in both families because I was part of development of their daughters. I expect with this program is gain cultural baggage. While this I am attend English class in my college that help me improve communication. Have the opportunity to live aboard with a host family in the China is the best way to get the immersion in the Chinese culture. I hope my host family should be well aware of what I will need help with, what I am capable of accomplishing on my own, and sensitive of one another's cultural differences. Be understanding and patient. Also, I and my host family are learning a lot from living with each other! I will do my best to make this exchange program for me and for my host family as well. If you looking for a responsible, caring, dedicated and loving children, contact me.
