Dear au pair: Welcome to our home and be a member of our family, also be a friend of us. I’m your future host mom Tina. I hope we can have more pleasant time and make improvements through mutual learning and communication over each other’s culture. I do some administrative job in a university and I like movies and painting. My husband works in a hotel. He seldom stays at home and he likes water sports. My boy names Roy of 6 years old. He enjoys communicating with friends and has a wide range of hobbies. But he seems undisciplined sometimes. He can speak simple English words and sentences used in daily life. Roy now is in a kindergarten and will enter elementary school in Sep. Therefore, at daytimes of weekdays, nobody is at home. Now my mother lives with us to babysit Roy. If you join us, I prefer to send her back home to unload her pressure. There is also a housekeeper to do some housework, but she does not live with us. I am afraid that my parents would spoil Roy. So I hope you can spare more time to play games with Roy, tell him stories, sing, dance or play piano. We don't need you to do housework. Your main task is to be with Roy and cultivate his interests while learning English. I hope with you help he can become polite, patient and brave. Meanwhile I'd love to learn some English. And I can teach you Chinese and share with you Chinese culture. Roy's life is arranged regularly. He gets up before 7am, goes to school at 7:30am, finishes classes at 4:30pm and sleeps at 9pm. At weekends, life is much more random. What about your timetables? I really hope that you can have plenty of time to get along with him. We live in Changning District in Shanghai. Life here is vey convenient . We can provide you a single room and wifi. We can share Chinese food if you like ,and we wiil offer fruits and snacks to you. If you don’t like Chinese food ,you can cook what you want and you will buy you the materials.
Currently we have four family members living in the apartment: my wife, my mother, my son and me. I have been studying and working in the UK for 2 years and my wife exchanged to Belgium for 1 year during her master, so both of us speak fluent English. Now I work of a Danish company as the finance manager and my wife is a lawyer on her maternity leave. My son Bran was born in April, so he is actually very tiny at present, only 2 month! He is a quiet and cute boy, only cries when he is hungry:) We want you to give us a hand in daily care to him, especially after my wife goes back to work in Oct. My mother lives with us and takes care of our family. Of course she does not speak any English, but she is very open-minded and nice, cooks very delicious Chinese food! IYou will have your own room, but you need to share the bathroom with my mother, as we only have 2 bathrooms in the flat. And you can of course use all the facilities in the flat, you know you will be a member of our family. I wish you can join our family, and attend family activities as you wish. My own experience of living in a foreign country will definitely help, and I know the feeling of starting exploring a new country. You will enjoy the living with us.
I'm KAJO mom, and I've lived in Italy, Germany. My children and I live in the embassy district of Beijing. There are restaurants and supermarkets. Children in the German Embassy in kindergarten, learning german. He is chinese and German. His father often does business in Germany. We want our children to learn English at the same time, so we need to have an English speaking country. Monday to Friday children in kindergarten, at three twenty in the afternoon, we will live in the nursery school, the children are very convenient. After the nursery and children should play with the children as much as possible to speak english. Tell the children a bath after dinner. On the weekends I often go back to my grandma's house, and I often go to a restaurant with my uncle on Sunday. We need to have a good life, a sense of responsibility, trustworthy, good living habits, the key is not only in the effective time to play with the children, but also as much as possible and children speak english. Children now speak Chinese and German, English only contact, the beginning of a certain conflict, the language takes a long time to continue to repeat, not as a formula can solve the problem, so we want to have patience and endurance. I hope you are the one we want to find!
